Finding my voice: A patient-centered perspective

In the latest edition of Massage & Fitness Magazine, I was asked to contribute an article relating to touch. The current issue is devoted to what might be happening beneath your skin (and in your brain) when we touch or are touched. Nicolas Ng, the publisher of Massage & Fitness Magazine, knew of my passion for the patient-centered model of care and how it plays into such discussions, and the result is this article. Given my strong stance on questioning claims made in the manual therapy communities, I don’t always make fans questioning professionals who feel that they have unique access to the tissue, structure, or pathology under the skin.
